Résumé
Gentilhomme campagnard, le jeune baron Grégoire Ponceludon de Malavoy se désespère de voir les populations de sa région périr sous l'effet d'épidémies répétitives, dues à un environnement marécageux. Bien décidé à obtenir des subventions, il se rend à Versailles pour y plaider sa cause auprès de Louis XVI. Dépouillé de ses biens et laissé pour mort, avant même que d'arriver, Grégoire ne doit la vie sauve qu'à l'intervention du marquis de Bellegarde, qui, séduit par ses idéaux, le prend sous sa protection et l'introduit dans un petit cercle d'amis influents, où sa fougue et son esprit font rapidement merveilles

After a quintessentially bohemian childhood that found her straddling New York, Paris, Italy and Los Angeles (with a photographer father and actress mom), Alexa Davalos headed to Manhattan. In the Big Apple, she instantly snagged lucrative assignments as photographer's model for the likes of Peter Lindbergh, then discovered an inborn passion for acting and decided to make it the focus of her life.
 
Born into a family of performers - her grandfather Richard Davalos starred alongside James Dean in À l'est d'Eden (1955) - in 2002, Davalos turned her focus to acting and migrated to Los Angeles and began signing for guest parts on series such as "Angel" (1999) and "Les années campus" (2001). Her big break arrived when producers selected her to play "Kyra", the heroine in the 2004 futuristic fantasy vehicle Les chroniques de Riddick (2004), starring Vin Diesel. I don't really have any expectations. For me, it's all about falling in love with a project and being as present and open as you can while filming it. But once you get on the plane at the end of filming, it's out of your hands.

I grew up very comfortable in this bizarre, circus-like existence, but, as comfortable as I was, I was also aware of the struggles that actors go through. A lot of people who come into the profession with these romantic expectations aren't being very realistic. And because I often saw the other side of that dream, I avoided acting like the plague at first.
 
My normal life is, I love to travel and I travel as often as I can. I don't stay in one place too long. But I'm an avid reader, I guess you could say, I'm a bit of a bookworm.(c'est bien. Alexa Davalos, née le 28 mai 1982 à Paris, est une actrice franco-américaine. Elle est la fille du photographe Jeff Dunas et de l'actrice Elyssa Davalos, ainsi que la petite-fille de l'acteur Richard Davalos qui joua aux côtés de James Dean dans À l'est d'Eden.

Biographie
Alexa Davalos a passé une grande partie de son enfance dans le sud de la France,et aussi en Italie aux côtés de ses parents. Elle commence alors sa carrière dans le mannequinat mais préfère se tourner vers le monde du cinéma.Elle débute en tant qu'actrice en faisant une petite apparition dans la série intitulée Les Années campus. Puis, elle se fait connaître du grand public grâce à son interprétation dans Angel, dans le rôle de la sexy, mais surtout électrique Gwen Raiden… Elle y fera trois apparitions. Once again Vin Diesel brings to life the vicious, calculating anti-hero Riddick, the convict who prefers to kill instead of negotiate. Riddick is living a life of arduous survival, preferring the isolation of the frozen planet to the company of humans. When he learns the Imam is the man who has set the bounty for him, he journeys to discover why.

Keith David recreates the Imam from Pitch Black as if he had never left the role, and introduces us to Aereon, the elemental being in the form of Judi Dench, whose powerful acting and presence adds both drama and authenticity to the film. Nick Chinlund excels in a role custom made for him, and Colm Feore is magnificent as the Lord Marshal, the holy half-dead who has seen the Underverse.(ah ouais ? ben moi j'trouve pas. Pas du tout même!)

Linus Roache, in one of two films he has worked on with Diesel (the other, Find Me Guilty, perhaps led to his role as the Assistant DA on Law and Order), and while his role is not as big as I would have liked, his presence and eloquence as the Purifier adds significantly to the film. Karl Urban, who has appeared in other fantasy roles (Priest, Star Trek), presents a more powerful, controlled soldier of the faith, while Thandie Newton as his ambitious wife provides the right balance to the struggle for power within any authoritarian regime.

Alexa Davalos is excellent as Kyra, defiant and deadly to the last. Even the extended version is rated PG-13 for language and violence,but little sexual content (bien dommage !).Since Vin will be recreating Riddick in a third film next year, I would say this is a collectible if you are a fan of the first two, or just a fan of good science fiction.

Surprisingly GOOD MOVIE!!

I rented this with somewhat low expectations...and boy was I surprised! This movie is visually stunning and the action is well done. A lot of information is thrown at you from the beginning and Vin Diesel tends to speak in a low, hard to understand voice...but stick with it. Many of the details are repeated and clarified throughout the movie.

This movie is lingering just below making the cut into my top 10 favorite movies... I'm not sure how this got such a bad rating either. I would assume there are people here in IMDb that just randomly rate movies based on concept or who is in it. But don't let the rating fool you. 
 
This movie kept me on the edge of my seat to say the least. But like I said before, STAY WITH IT. You actually need to watch and pay attention to the dialog between the action. I know it's rough for some of you Neanderthals, but you can do it!
